At this point I was clueless and I innocently thought it was just a cup of tea!!! Little did I know! At the gate to the park the guard questioned us saying there were many people at the lodge! Sam got out the car to talk to the guard and I could see them laughing, but I still didn't realise anything was going on! It was only as we parked at the lodge, that the suprise was given away, with two men asking to take our bags for us! Sam had to admit that this wasn't just a cup of tea, but actually we were staying there for the night. At this point the thought of engagement flashed passed my mind, but I still was unsure.

The lodge was in a beautiful setting overlooking the river. That evening Sam had arranged for us to have a meal for just the two of us at the top of the main area. We had a gorgeous meal by lamplight and then at the end of the meal the moment came!
Sam was telling me all about the traditions with in the Batooro culture, explaining how the guy selects the girl by tieing a white handkerchief around her neck on the day of introduction. At that moment he then pulled out a white handkerchief from his bag, tied it round my neck, went down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was overcome with so much excitement and happiness and I think I said yes almost straight away.
It was a very special evening and one neither of us will forget for a very long time to come. We then went to buy the engagement ring together the next day.
From that point on the preparations have begun!
